The 2012 school program was a great success, and we packed the ADK Loj and surrounding cabins with 40+ students and 12 instructors.
A new first for us was use of the McKenzie-Intervale Olympic ski jump facility as our location for ice ax/crampon/self-arrest training.
A majority of students indicated this was one of the highlights of the 2012 Program. We were challenged a bit by the weather,
but as always our students got a chance to experience a variety of weather and snow conditions that all combined to create
a great learning environment.
2013 Program events are scheduled to start at 9AM Friday 1 February and run until either 4 February or 7 February, depending on
the program selected, and once again using the Adirondack Loj as base camp. The costs for the various program options represent
a great value when compared to equivalent outdoor education programs offered by similar organizations, and students rate their
instructors and satisfaction with their experience at the School very highly year after year.
There is a
Facebook page where
updates and current program information are posted.
The deadline for applications is January 15, 2013. However, the various section programs for 2012
filled up by early January, and we ended up having to turn away a number of prospective students, so I would encourage chapter
members interested in attending to apply as early as possible.
